Borrowing Materials
Students
Guelph-Humber student's, may borrow material from the University of Guelph and its TUG partners (University of Waterloo, and Wilfrid Laurier University) as well as Humber College. Fines accrued from items borrowed through Primo/TRELLIS must be settled with Humber College Library. Failure to settle accounts may result in the witholding of marks, and transcripts, as well as the loss of library privileges.
Please check 'Your Account' in the Primo library catalogue, or 'My Account' in the Humber library website to view fines, renew items, and see what you have charged out, or placed on hold/recall at each library.
Borrowing from the University of Guelph (TUG) Library
To borrow books from the University of Guelph and its TUG partners simply find the material you want in Primo. Click on the 'More bibliographic information in Trellis' link to request the item . The system will prompt you to sign in if you have not already done so and provide a simple form to fill out. Choose the Hold or Recall option depending on whether the book is on loan, or in the stacks. To get material delivered to the Guelph-Humber campus select the pick up location as Guelph-Humber circulation.
You will be notified by email when your book has arrived at the Humber Library circulation desk. Books borrowed should be returned to the Humber Library circulation desk. You can also request journal articles that the other libraries have. You will also be notified by email when a photocopy of your article is on its way to Humber circulation. Please allow an average of three from when you receive the email for the article to arrive.
All fines accured must also be settled at the Humber Library circulation desk. (PDF File 20 KB)
- Loan period is 2 weeks
- No limit on books borrowed
- Renewals are limited to 99 times
Fines
- Regular items are 25¢ per day to a maximum of $15 per item
- Items on loan for 1 to 3 days are $20 per day to a maximum of $100 per item
- Items recalled are $1 per day, to a maximum of $30
- Videos are fined $5 per day
Reserve Fines
If a Guelph-Humber student is physically located at any of the TUG libraries (University of Guelph, Waterloo, and Wilfrid Laurier) and would like to check out a reserve item, they will need to follow reserve collection policies at that particular library.
Patron Blocks
- If fine is $30 or more
- If a hold or recall exists on item held by patron
- If trying to self-renews an overdue recalled book
Lost Books
- Books are automatically considered lost after 60 days
- Cost of lost book is $75 plus a $35 processing fee
- Books lost from other TUG libraries are charged according to each libraries policy
- Charges for damaged items are on a case-by-case basis
Borrowing from Humber College Library
To borrow books online choose Place a Hold button beside the catalogue entry. When the book is available a pink slip with your name on it will be placed on the bulletin board in the circulation department.
- Loan period is 2 weeks
- Unlimed renewals on two week loan period items unless it a hold is placed on it
- Borrowing limit is 40 items. There are specific limits to types of material borrowed, for example 10 books per patron, 4 cds, etc. You can also only borrow 4 books on one subject/topic.
Fines
- Regular item is 25¢ per day to a maximum of $25 per item
- Items on 3 day loan are $1 per day to a maximum of $60 per item
- Items on 7 day loan are 50¢ per day to a maximum of $40 per item
- Items recalled are a $1 per day to a maximum of $24 per item
Reserve Fines
- 1 or 3 hour loans are $3 per hour to a maximum of $24 per item
- 1 or 3 day loans are $2 per hour to a maximum of $60 per item
