Government Documents & Statistics
Government information is generated by local, provincial, national, and international governments on almost all topics. It includes laws, regulations, reports, statistics, studies, surveys and much more.
Find Government Information
You can find government information using either BIBCAT or TRELLIS.
The best way to find government information is to use the Advanced Search function. Search for Author using the level of Government you are interested in, such as Canada, Ontario or Toronto. In the next search box, use a keyword search of the topic you are researching. For example, if you were interested in social services in Ontario, the Author would be 'Ontario' and the keyword search string would be 'social services'.
For more detailed information on how to find government documents please refer to the University of Guelph's SEARCH TOOLS on their Government Publications page.
Find Statistical Information
Statistical data can also be found using BIBCAT or TRELLIS.
To search for Canadian statistical information perform an Advanced Search using 'Statistics Canada' as the Author, and your topic as the keyword search string. You can also visit the Statistics Canada website.
For more online data from Statistics Canada and other statistical agencies, visit University of Guelph's Data Resource Centre site.
